Dairy Day - Virginia Tech Open House
Virginia Tech, November 2009
2009's Making Quality Milk conference offered an opportunity for Dairymen Specialty to partner with Virginia Cooperative Extension and Virginia Tech to bring equipment innovations and information to participating dairy producers. In addition to tours of VT's dairy complex, Dairymen Specialty hosted a luncheon and organized a collection of relevant exhibits.

Dairymen Specialty Open House 2004
August 24th & 25th marked our annual Open House Customer Appreciation Celebration, which included display after display of top manufacturers, a complimentary lunch, door prizes, giveaway items, and a wealth of product and industry information.  Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's event.

July 2004 Virginia Tech Dairy Complex Grand Opening
On July 16, 2004, the Department of Dairy Science at Virginia Tech introduced their new Dairy Complex, where Dairymen Specialty was recognized by former Virginia Tech Dairy Farm Superintendent and complex director, Charles N. Miller for their noteworthy contribution of long-term consultation and outstanding equipment installation.  These improvements are the first major upgrade in over 40 years; and Dairymen Specialty provided the vast majority of the equipment.

Featuring a 232-cow free-stall research barn and a double-eight rapid-exit herringbone center, Virginia Tech’s new dairy complex also includes the latest design in waste management technology, including solid separation and composting, and the recycling of wastewater for the flush system.  Integrating the latest technology available, odors are reduced through aeration.

During the July 16 event, more than 500 industry supporters gathered to celebrate the grand opening at Virginia Tech’s Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena in Blacksburg.  Dairymen Specialty provided complementary bus transportation to area residents interested in being a part of the historical event.

April 2004 Feed & Milking Seminar
On April 7 and 8, we hosted a special feed & milking seminar as an educational event for local farmers in both the Rocky Mount, West Virginia area and the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County, Virginia area.  This four-hour free event featured renowned guest speakers Dr. Stephen Spencer and Mr. Richard Dietz.

Dr. Stephen Spencer                            Mr. Richard Dietz

As Professor Emeritus at Pennsylvania State University and revered expert on milking and milking machine function, Dr. Spencer provided valuable information on proper milking technique, teat end health, liners, claw milking vacuum, and faster milking speeds.

Mr. Richard Dietz of Mediapharm, Inc. provided our area farmers with detailed information on calf health, good silage, and proper use of probiotics.

Mr. Kevin Craun; Mr. Steve Craun;       Mr. Brady Catob
Mr. Harper Phillips

Lunch was provided free of charge; and Dairymen Specialty Company featured a special giveaway for registrants participating in our better service survey.

This two-day event provided area farmers with timely information to help ensure a healthier, more efficient operation.  Dairymen Specialty Company was pleased to have arranged and hosted this event.  For information on upcoming seminars and Dairymen Specialty events, please contact us.
